July Beach Cleanup at The Wall

July 5, The Wall – Clear skies and sunshine for the volunteers at this month’s beach cleanup. The group met up at the NH Surfrider tent before heading down the beach. There was plenty of trash to pick up after the Fourth of July celebrations including fireworks and sparklers.

The third in a series of four ‘Summer Cleanups’, all the volunteers were entered in the Surfboard Raffle. The surfboard, donated by Cinnamon Rainbows, and a selection of items from Ocean Minded will be raffled after the August 1 cleanup. (The August 1 cleanup starts at 4pm).

ISD – International Surfing Day in NH

Jenness Beach, June 20 – New Hampshire Surfrider Foundation celebrated International Surfing Day and the start of Summer with a surf session at Jenness Beach.

Afterwards, the Chapter spent some time on the beach talking to other surfers and people enjoying a day at the beach. With a box full of giveaways from the ISD sponsors, the tent drew a crowd for most of the afternoon and there were enough people to run a quick evening beach cleanup.

ESA-NNE May Contest at The Wall

Sunshine and surf greeted the first ESA-NNE contest at The Wall on Saturday May 30.

New Hampshire Surfrider Foundation joined the village of tents to watch the contest, enjoy the weather, talk about Surfrider, and then go for a surf at the end of the day.

A steady flow of people stopped by the Surfrider tent to ask about the beach cleanups, joining Surfrider, and to buy New Hampshire Surfrider Foundation T-shirts.

First Summer Cleanup Draws a Crowd!

The first of the Summer Series of beach cleanups supported by Cinnamon Rainbows and Ocean Minded saw 22 volunteers sign in for the cleanup – and the raffle.

On offer at each of the four cleanups are sandals and t-shirts from Ocean Minded plus an August grand prize of a new surfboard from Cinnamon Rainbows. Anyone helping with these cleanups can enter the free raffle.

Following several cleanups where NH Surfrider removed many large items from the beach, this month’s cleanup of 87 pounds in 16 bags comprised hundreds of smaller pieces of trash.

A big thank you to the sponsors and all the volunteers who braved the cool May weather to clean up the beach.

Seabrook Beach Cleanup

The New Hampshire Surfrider crew traveled south to Seabrook, NH on the last weekend in April.

Thank you to Zapstix Surf Shop and Ocean Minded for hosting and supporting this beach cleanup. The weather finally turned hot and sunny so the beach was by far the best place to be – even if it was to pick up trash.

With plenty of people at the beach, there were many comments of appreciation for the efforts to keep the beach clean, and the chance to explain who we are and what we do.

The group of volunteers swept the beach to the north of Zapstix up to the river, and removed an amazing 191 pounds of trash.

‘Dawn Patrol’ Beach Cleanups
